The Position
The Scientist II will provide technical leadership in complex in vitro and in vivo workflows, identification and validation of new drug targets, advancing novel therapies, and developing technologies to accelerate scientific research. This will be achieved by coordinating multiple research activities involving cross-functional project teams to ensure achievement of key deliverables. The Scientist II will represent the organization to the external scientific community through publication and presentation of research, and through the development, management, and leadership of external collaborations. The individual will be seen across the company as a method/subject expert for one or two technologies or area(s) of biology.
Relationships
This is a full-time position located in Boston area. This position will report to the head of Metabolic and neuronal regulation at Novo Nordisk in Boston.
Internal relationships include working closely with technical staff & other members of the scientific leadership team; regular collaborations with members of other research departments in Boston; & frequent interaction with project managers & other colleagues in Denmark, Oxford and Beijing. Individual may be responsible for indirect reports or contingent workers.
Individual will interact with external research collaborators, both academia- & industry-base
Essential Functions
Qualifications:
• PhD degree required with experience in the field of obesity and diabetes research
• Minimum of 4 years experience in the field of obesity and diabetes research- post doc and/or industry experience may be considered
• Extensive hands on experience with In vitro, ex vivo cell culture system of adipose, liver, skeletal muscle and neuron is required.
• Experience working with metabolic disease rodent models is a plus.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates outstanding project management knowledge, as well as organizational and time-management skills in industry settings.
